What are some of the safety measures that NAVC is implementing during VMX?
Masks will be required at all times while inside the Expo Hall and at all VMX events.
The Expo Hall aisles have been widened, specific one-way traffic flow, and other social distancing measures will be in place.
Carpet is being minimized and will only be provided on main aisles to minimize surface areas and enhance cleaning capabilities throughout the hall. For safety reasons individual booths still require fire-retardant carpeting (to minimize electrical outlet exposures and other electrical hazards).
The OCCC is the largest convention center in the U.S. to receive GBAC Star (Global Biorisk Advisory Council) accreditation on outbreak prevention, response and recovery protocols. They are leading the nation in many of the measures they are implementing here in Orlando.
The OCCC has installed sinks, disinfecting stations, and increased the frequency of cleaning and sanitizing in all public spaces including high contact surfaces like elevators, hand railings, door handles, ATMs, stair and escalator handrails, and of course, bathrooms.
The OCCC has a disinfectant procedure in place for cleaning which adheres to the CDC and WHO guidance. There is also an increased number of hand sanitation sites available at the OCCC and surrounding campus, providing
alcohol-based hand sanitizer for all attendees and staff.
Other precautionary measures include enhancing onsite communications and signage regarding CDC recommendations, and ongoing training for OCCC staff and partners for best practices on providing a safe and healthy environment.
The medical concierge program will include onsite access to a medical expert to provide health services, including coronavirus testing.
Social distancing will be required, at least 6 feet from each other while inside the Expo Hall or in various areas of the OCCC facility and at all VMX events.
Following the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) Safety Guidelines, NAVC will be implementing crowd floor density standards, currently at 6-foot radius (approximately 2 meters) space separating individuals. With each person having a radius of 3 feet of space (6 feet between each other), the physical distancing space per person is approximately 28 sq. ft. (2.6 sq. meters) per circle. For example, if you have a 10x10 space or 100 SF divided by 28, you are allowed to have approximately 3.57 people within your space at a given time. Masks and other sanitary measures are still in play and recommended with this guideline.
In-line booth side railings will be increased from 3 feet to 8 feet.
Seating throughout the Expo Hall in various lounges and dining areas will be adjusted accordingly to allow for social distancing as per the CDC Guideline.
In addition to these guidelines, we ask each exhibitor to also follow basic health and safety principles and practices within their booth to ensure their staff and guests, that are within the confines of their booth, have a safe physical environment during the show. See next question below.
